Will Tucker Carlson’s Neo-Nazi Rhetoric Inspire a Mass Shooting?

‘Great Replacement’ conspiracy theory has been tied to previous massacres

Fox News commentator Tucker Carlson using neo-Nazi rhetoric is nothing new. He’s been doing that for years. So, when his latest promotion of the “Great Replacement” conspiracy theory hit the airwaves, I shrugged. (The theory suggests Jews are deliberately replacing white people with People of Color from developing countries.) I said, Tucker Carlson saying something racist isn’t news, call me when he’s fired.

But his recent statement has the potential to become dangerous. It was bad enough that Carlson repeated a neo-Nazi conspiracy theory, but now it’s been parroted by Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) Johnson is a frequent regurgitator of Russian propaganda and never met a conspiracy theory he didn’t like. He picked up Carlson’s neo-fascist propaganda and ran with it.
