Will Trump Supporters Ever Figure Out They Been Had?
MAGA fans have lost freedom, reputations but are still loyal to Trump
Sometimes I wonder if Trump supporters will ever wake up to the fact they’ve been used. Former President Donald Trump never cared about them or their issues. However, he harnessed their anger to fuel his rise to the presidency. Trump figured out that a lot of white people were angry that Barack Obama ever became president. (Many of them are still fuming over this five years later.) And that’s why he pursued his Quixotic birther quest.
But ultimately, Trump saw his supporters as disposal. They were mere tools for him to achieve his goals. This has always been clear to me; I don’t understand how Trump supporters can’t see this. Often, they’re so wrapped up in the MAGA cult that they can’t see how it has destroyed their lives.
Here are two examples. Corey Griffin is the founder of something called “Cowboys for Trump.” He’s also a commissioner in Otero County, N.M. He was so devoted to Trump that he was part of the mob of Trump followers that invaded the Capitol on Jan.6. He recently survived a recall election and is facing misdemeanor charges for his efforts. Needless to say that his life has worsened since he became a Trumpist.
