Trump is the Frankenstein’s Monster That Ate The Republican Party

Trumpism is good for president, bad for country, GOP

During the classic TV series “The X Files” Agents Scully and Mulder work a case that involves ritualistic killings in a small town. The agents later discover the school board is worshipping the devil. Mulder eventually tells them, “Did you think you could call up the devil and keep him in a box?”

This could be seen as an analogy of what’s going on in the Republican Party. When Donald Trump ran for president and won the GOP primary, the party made a literal deal with the devil. Party leaders were willing to ignore Trump’s racism, sketchy business past, ties to Russia, and the fact that he really didn’t care about core Republican values, in order to win the election. They thought they could ride Trump’s star power to victory in 2016.

Trump eventually won, with the help of massive Russian interference. Party leaders, such as Sen. Mitch McConnell got what they wanted, tax cuts (the Republican holy grail) another conservative Supreme Court…
