President Uses the Term to Describe Any News He Doesn’t Like

I’m really sick of the term “fake news,” mainly because it’s often used incorrectly to the point the meaning has become blurred.

President Donald Trump is probably the chief culprit in this. However, in the Trump era, fake news actually means “any news Trump doesn’t like.” This might be a deliberate attempt to discredit the mainstream media. (It’s also a Russian disinformation tactic.)

Trump hates truth tellers so for the last few years, he’s actively sought to discredit them. Unfortunately, this seems to be working because many of his cultists choose to believe him over real news. Sadly, this devotion to the Trump cult is probably going to cost some MAGA devotees their lives. Even after the coronavirus has killed 20,000 Americans, many Trump supporters still refuse to take it seriously.

However, Trump’s use of the term fake news reached ridiculous lengths when he recently branded The Wall Street Journal, a bastion of conservatism, “fake news.” Even though The WSJ
