Richie details his journey from a painfully shy, unfocused country boy — he later discovers he has ADHD — to a global superstar.

Throughout the story, Richie touches upon his connection to major moments in American history. His grandmother lived to the ripe old age of 103 and met civil rights icon Booker T. Washington.
