Rusty Bowers Was a Hero for 24 Hours, Now He’s Just Another Trump Cultist
Arizona representative was threatened by Trumpists, called pedophile; will vote for him in ‘24
I guess we just can’t have good things. On Tuesday, Arizona Rep. Rusty Bowers was presented as a rarity; a principled, sane Republican. They are scarce these days because the GOP has turned into a Trump personality cult. All principles, logic and morality have been rejected in favor of whatever the Orange Man wants.
But in his testimony in front of the House Select Committee on the Jan. 6 Attack, Bowers came across as a man with a spine of steel who stood up for his principles. That lasted for about 24 hours.
Bowers gave an interview to the Associated Press where he said he would still vote for Trump again if he was the presidential candidate in 2024.
“If he is the nominee, if he was up against Biden, I’d vote for him again,” said Bowers. “Simply because what he did the first time, before COVID, was so good for the county. In my view it was great.”
I first heard this news on “Democracy Now!” when I was driving, and couldn’t believe it. So, I googled the story, and it turned out to be true. All my admiration for Bowers evaporated.
