I can’t believe there are people who actually want former President Donald Trump, easily the worst commander-in-chief in living history, to return to the White House. Yes, they are some people who look fondly on the Trump’s administration, which was marked by almost 1,000,000 Americans dying of the coronavirus, massive corruption, nepotism, incompetence, 30,000 lies and, finally, an attack on the U.S. government.

But Trump recently met with the America First Policy Institute, a far-right think tank in Washington D.C. During the think tank’s conference, Trumpists discussed potential staff members for a future administration so they could hit the ground running, unlike last time, when he appeared dazed that he won.

Trump has borrowed aspects of the neofascist Neo Reactionary Movement (NrX,) beloved by techno fascists such as Peter Thiel, and plans to fire 50,000 civil servants. After his purge, they will be replaced by government workers who are loyal to Trump. This is neofascist Steve Bannon’s “destroy the administrative state” plan put into practice.

We should consider the place we are in right now. Less than two years ago, an army of deranged Trump cultists tried to overthrow the government and proclaim Trump a dictator. More than 800 Trump supporters have been charged and about 200 have been convicted. The Department of Justice and the House Jan. 6 Committee’s investigations continue to unveil more corruption and lawbreaking from the Trump administration.

America is as divided as it has ever been. And according to a University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics survey, 25% of Americans say that they are willing to take up arms against the government.
