I have been writing about former President Donald Trump for eight years. I have documented his racism, bigotry, delusion, conspiracy theories, and outright stupidity. And I’m exhausted. Writing about Trump, a stain on the U.S.’ reputation, is an exhausting and depressing task. But this task may be coming to an end.

President Joe Biden has stepped down from the race to be replaced by his younger and more energetic replacement Vice President Kamala Harris. Harris is surging in the polls and is a fundraising monster. She’s raised more than $500 million since Biden exited the race. Trump, who was convinced he would easily defeat Biden, is now on the ropes. He’s going into a race against a younger, nimbler candidate and the cameras love her.

But another factor might spell the end of Trump’s reign of error — and that’s other Republicans.
