Putin Wants US to Burn; Some Americans Will Provide the Gasoline.
Trump, MAGA allied with America-hating tyrant
Since the American people reelected Donald Trump, I’m going to have to write several articles all over again. People didn’t pay attention to what I, and several other left-wing writers, were saying over the last eight years. And as the old saying goes, you keep making the same mistake until you learn your lesson.
So this article is a remix of one I wrote in 2019. The previous article warned of the danger of Russian President Vladimir Putin. In that article, I said Putin is no friend of the United States and only foolish Americans cozy up to him.
Putin is a cold warrior. He sees the downfall of the old Soviet Union as one of the biggest tragedies of the 20th century. And he puts much of the blame on the United States. As a cold warrior, Putin sees America as his longtime enemy and would love to see our country suffer the same fate as his beloved Soviet Union.
An Old, Cold Warrior
This is detailed in a recent New York Times article by Russian exile Mikhail Zygar.
“The American election results were received with enthusiasm in Moscow. President Vladimir Putin, offering his congratulations, seemed genuinely pleased,” said Zygar. “… It’s that to many in the Kremlin, a Trump presidency might bring about the collapse of the American state.”
According to Zygar, the dystopian film “Civil War” is required viewing among the Russian government elite. The film is titled “Fall of the Empire” in Russia.
As I stated in previous articles, Putin is a particularly nasty piece of work. He’s a terrible leader. He’s been in power for about a quarter of a century, is estimated to have embezzled $200 billion from his country’s coffers, and has overseen a disastrous war that has killed 700,000 of his countrymen in three years. People who disagree with Putin mysteriously fall out of tall buildings or in the case of former mercenary leader Yevgeny Prigozhin out of a plane.
Russia’s Permanent Great Leader
Since Russia is not a real democracy, the people have no say in whether Putin stays in power. He’ll run for office, get reelected and will likely be in the Kremlin until the Grim Reaper gets him. All those Americans who drool over Putin’s manliness and “unwoke” government couldn’t stand living in Russia.
But here’s the scary thing. Trump would like to do the same thing here. Now he’s been elected president, just wait for him to try to get rid of 22nd Amendment (which limits presidents to two terms.) Trump and many of the right share Putin’s worldview, a subject former counterintelligence officer Malcolm Nance has written several books about.
Putin’s Russia has interfered in the last three American elections. (During the November election, several American polling places were disrupted by bomb threats called in from Russia.)
This is not a conspiracy theory, as many MAGA cultists like to believe. This was stated in the Mueller report, in a Senate Intelligence Select Committee report and several Department of Justice indictments.
Promoting Internal Conflict
However, some Americans share the same worldview as Putin and would like to see this country dismantled. How many times have you heard MAGA cultists casually say we should have a civil war, as if their overweight, medicated bodies would last a minute in combat?
Pete Hegseth, Trump’s scandal-ridden pick for secretary of Defense, has also stated that we might need to have a civil war. In his neo-fascist screed “American Crusade,” Hegseth sees America’s divisions coming to a boiling point.
“The military and police, both bastions of freedom-loving patriots, will be forced to make a choice. It will not be good. Yes, there will be some form of civil war,” he said.
And the abominable Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) has frequently screeched about the need for a national divorce.
“With Democrat governors threatening the upcoming Trump administration’s mandate by the American people to secure our borders and deport illegal invaders, gut and cut the federal government of corruption, waste, and stifling regulations in order to reduce inflation and build an America first economy, and to stop the mentally ill and predatorial trans agenda against our kids and women’s sports, I’m still in favor of a national divorce if need be,” said Greene in an X post.
However, there is no legal basis for a state to secede from the union, and internal strife and division only weaken the United States in the eyes of the world.
And this is exactly what Putin wants. He wants the US to burn, and many Americans are willing to provide the gasoline.
