I’m currently reading Michael C. Bender’s, “Frankly, We Did Win This Election.” It’s one of several books about the chaos in the Trump White House. Unfortunately, there are so many coming out that it’s a struggle to keep up with them. I also want to read, “I Alone Can Fix It,” but there’s only so much time in the day.

From reading Bender’s book, it’s clear that one of the biggest problems in the Trump White House was elevating people to positions above their experience and qualifications. This goes against everything I was taught. So what’s the point of going to school, training in a field, and developing a resume when people get hired to high-ranking positions with absolutely no experience?

I guess that confirms the old adage; it’s not what you know, it’s who you know. And if you know the right person, such as the commander-in-chief, you get to run a presidential campaign, even if you have little to no experience. But, of course, this kind of privilege only goes to white people. I can’t imagine any POC being given a chance to run a presidential election campaign just because he knew the right person.
