Many right-wingers long for fascist violence

When One American News (OAN) came along, it gave FOX News Channel a run for its money in the worst TV network stakes. OAN is far-right, pro-Russia, conspiratorial and pro-Trump. It also has a loose grasp of the truth. However, this subscription-only network is seen by few eyes, so, fortunately, most people ignore it. But it still has the power to shock. This happened last week.

Pearson Sharp, an OAN correspondent, delivered a presentation that was shockingly inaccurate and also downright dangerous. During his comments, he repeated “the Big Lie,” the conspiracy theory promoted by ex-President Donald Trump that claims that the 2020 election was rigged in favor of Democrats. But, of course, Trump has provided no evidence to back this up. The Trump campaign also lost 60 legal cases and argued this up to the Supreme Court. But who cares about those pesky facts? Republicans evidently don’t!

Blatant fascism
