EnkiiE

Former Marine EnkiiE is a new artist whose sound blends hip-hop, trap and R&B. Records on Repeat said, “Between Hip-Hop, rap and trap, this track (“Sky,” his collaboration with Tee Wild.) encompasses multiple genres while remaining totally authentic thanks to EnkiiE’s brilliant lyricism and meticulous performance.”

I talked to him about his musical influences, inspirations and the state of the music business.

Otiko: What kind of music did you listen to growing up and how has that affected your current sound?

EnkiiE: I listened to trap music and conscious music growing up and that developed my sound into more so of a balanced meal in a sense.

Otiko: I see that you are also active with other creative projects such as engineering and producing. How important is it for artists to be multi-talented in the entertainment industry?

EnkiiE: In my personal opinion, every artist should have a basic foundation of every element of the creative process. This is important because, as “corona” showed us, sometimes, we are not going to always have a team around us.

Otiko: With the changes in technology and the growth of social media, is talent still important? Or is being able to market your image and sound more important than having talent?
