Navy SEALS aren’t Superheroes; Many are Far-Right Tools
Capitol attack, Facebook group indicate many Special Forces troops have declared war against U.S.
There was a time when I used to think Navy SEALS were like superheroes. they were the ultimate soldiers. These were guys who jumped out of planes and launched attacks from submarines. They were literal supermen. But over the years, I’ve begun to realize that image was cultivated by Hollywood movies such as “Navy SEALS” and “American Sniper.”
The reality is very different. From reading books and interviews about real Navy SEALS, I've learned some of them have some far-right, borderline fascist views. I read Chief Petty Officer (rtd.) Chris Kyle’s book “American Sniper,” which is a lot different from the Clint Eastwood-directed movie. That’s not unusual because it’s difficult to capture a person’s personality in a two- hour movie.
In the book, he mentions getting into bar fights and also talks casually about killing Iraqis, even women and children. I deduced that Kyle would have made a good hitman because he seemed to have no qualms about killing people.
