Chris Hedges, the left-wing Pulitzer prize-winning journalist, once cautioned people to be wary of billionaires trying to get involved with education reform.

He said they had a more sinister long-term goal.

“The speculators on Wall Street looted the U.S. Treasury. They stymied any kind of regulation. They have avoided criminal charges. They are stripping basic social services. And now they are demanding to run our schools and universities,” said Hedges in a 2011 Truthdig article.

Hedges’ point should be remembered when considering the story of the “Mar-a-Lago Three.” If you’re not aware of the story, then don’t be surprised. There was so much corruption going on during the Trump administration it was difficult to keep track of it all.

Former President Donald Trump got away with overbilling the government for millions of dollars when he visited his golf courses almost every week. And the Supreme Court let him get away with ill-gotten money when they ruled that he couldn’t be prosecuted for that crime since he wasn’t in office anymore.
