Liz Cheney is a Sane Republican; Trumpistas Are Trying to Get Rid of Her
Cheney’s reward for telling the truth is a pink slip
Politics makes strange bedfellows. I never thought I find myself supporting Rep. Liz Cheney (R. Wyo.,) the offspring of right-wing warhawk Vice President Dick Cheney. But I realize she’s the best chance for the Republican Party to return to normalcy. And ultimately, that’s for the good of the nation. It’s easier to cut deals with corporatists than neo-fascist cultists.
But so far, it’s not looking good. Cheney looks like she’s going to lose her leadership position in the party. Several of her male colleagues are plotting to get rid of her because she’s not suitably loyal to unhinged ex-President Donald Trump. Yes, in today’s Republican Party, the true litmus test is your loyalty to the guy who suggested Americans inject bleach into their bodies. The well-adjusted ex-president has called Cheney “crazy Liz.”
