Liz Cheney Ignores Decades of GOP White Grievance
Former representative is oblivious as Republicans plumb depths of far-right
I just finished reading former Rep. Liz Cheney’s book, “Oath and Honor,” which details her losing battle to fight with the MAGA wing of the Republican Party. In the book, Cheney says, “We (the GOP) cannot become the party of QAnon, we cannot become the party of Holocaust denial, we cannot become the party of white supremacy.”
That line struck me because it was glaringly ignorant. Did Cheney believe that when she wrote it? Or was it just PR fluff?
Intelligent but Disingenuous
Cheney was educated at some of the best schools in the country, such as University of Chicago Law School. She comes from a wealthy family and has worked at the top levels of government, including serving time in the State Department and has served on a presidential campaign. She’s no dummy, so I find it hard to believe she was that disingenuous.
The GOP has become all the things she fears. And this is evident to any political watcher.
