Limbaugh Made America Dumber, More Racist

Shock jock laid the foundation for GOP’s downfall

Several years ago, I said I would celebrate the day that far-right radio show host Rush Limbaugh died. And yesterday, true to my words, I did celebrate. His death made the world a better place. Looking back on Limbaugh’s career, he changed the media and made a lot of money, but his legacy is also racism, bigotry and bullying vulnerable members of society.

He referred to Chelsea Clinton, who was 12 at the time, as “the White House dog.” And he also accused actor Michael J. Fox, who was suffering from Parkinson’s disease, of exaggerating his illness. In 2016, former President Donald Trump also made fun of a physically-challenged reporter. Limbaugh beat him to the punch.
