Like American Evangelicals, Orthodox Patriarch Kirill Is in Bed with the Devil

Putin and Kirill (The Presidential of Russia Press and Information Office/Wikpedia)

I’ve long said that the church is its own worst enemy. MTV, gay marriage and Bill Maher’s atheist rants won’t bring down the church; it’s glaring hypocrisy such as preachers crowdfunding private jets on the backs of poor parishioners. Also in America, Evangelical churches’ staunch support of former President Donald Trump, a man who seems to take pride in violating all the 10 Commandments, left a lasting stain.

Trump was a fanboy of Russian President Vladimir Putin. He admired the way the Russian dictator ruled his country by crushing dissent, and he wanted to turn himself into an American oligarch. Trump styled his administration after Putin. And if the Jan. 6 coup had succeeded, he would’ve become the undemocratic leader of America.

Unholy Alliances

But the similarities don’t stop there. Like Trump, Putin has also formed an unholy alliance with the Russian Orthodox Church. And like Trump, this alliance has done lasting damage to the church’s credibility.
