Jan. 6 House Committee Hearing Reveals America At Its Best, Worst

Democrats, cops did the right thing; Republicans continue race to the bottom

I watched most of the Jan. 6 House Select Committee Hearing on Tuesday with rapt attention. Personally, I think it’s something that all Americans should’ve watched. After all, the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol was the most devastating terrorist attack since 9/11.

During the hearing, officers who fought on the frontlines of the attack gave heart-rending and devastating testimony. The officers included Harry Dunn and Michael Fanone, who have become nationally recognized for their frequent interviews on television, Sgt. Aquilino Gonell and Officer Daniel Hodges.

Hodges was the officer who was trapped in the door and was being crushed to death by Trump supporters. They also tried to rip off his mask and assaulted him with weapons and various chemical sprays. Hodges said the terrorists intended to kidnap and kill him.

Punished for seeking the truth

Democrats and two Republicans, Reps. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) and Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.,) did their best to get to the bottom of what happened on Jan. 6. Unfortunately, Kinzinger and Cheney served on the committee at great cost. They’ve now been…
