Jan. 6 Hearings Need to Answer These Questions

Committee hearings should fill in gaps about attempt to overthrow democracy

Throughout this week, I’ve heard pro and con arguments about the Jan. 6 hearings which are scheduled to be broadcast live tonight. I will be glued to the television or radio, so I can follow the hearings. However, many people plan to tune out.

I know most people aren’t political junkies like me, but you would think they’d be interested in getting to the bottom of a historically disastrous event. The Jan. 6 Capitol attack was an attempt to turn America from a democracy into an autocracy. However, like most things in life, people won’t care until it’s too late. I’m afraid most Americans wouldn’t realize the implications of Jan. 6 until Trump death squads were roaming their neighborhoods.

In my experience with dictatorships, it’s always better to head them off. It’s better to not let your country get to where it becomes a dictatorship. Unfortunately, most Americans don’t have my experience.

But as I watch the Jan. 6 hearings, these are some questions I’d like to see answered:
