Jackson Hearings Turn Into Orgy of White Grievance

Many Republicans think Black means unqualified

I knew the confirmation process for Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson would be difficult, but I was shocked at how much racial animosity came up. During the hearings, GOP senators accused Jackson of supporting child pornography and hit her with the GOP’s latest racial smear, Critical Race Theory. I’m surprised they didn’t ask if she’d ever been on welfare.

It got so bad that even Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) admonished his fellow Republicans.

“It struck me that it was off course, meaning the attacks were off course that came from some,” said Romney in a Washington Post story. “And there is no there, there.”

White Grievance and the GOP

I shouldn’t be surprised by these antics. White grievance is one of the main features of the GOP platform. Since their policies do nothing for working-class Americans, and they can’t solve their problems, the only reason a blue-collar worker would vote Republican is because they appeal to some form of white grievance. Culture war issues and white grievance are the GOP’s fuel to get working-class people to vote against their interests.
