CPAC is Dangerous Foreboding of GOP’s Future
Republican Party on verge of going full fascist
As a political junkie, I consume all forms of political news. So naturally, I’m watching the annual right-wing lovefest called CPAC. The acronym stands for Conservative Political Action Conference. But this year, there’s something ominous and even sad about it.
Even though the GOP lost both houses of Congress and the last presidential election, the party is still solidifying around ex-President Donald Trump, the person who led them to disaster. Utah Sen. Mitt Romney said Trump would clinch the 2024 nomination — if he decides to run.
This year’s convention has already turned into a parade of PR disasters. CPAC ejected a Black anti-Semitic conspiracy theorist before the convention started. But the conference still has a Japanese nationalist cult member on the bill. CPAC attendees almost attacked CNN’s Jim Acosta, booed hosts when asked to don masks and cheered a golden Trump statue. And that was just the first two days!
