Court Convicts R. Kelly, But He Had Plenty of Help With His Crimes

R&B legend R. Kelly’s (real name Robert Kelly) 25-year run from the law firm finally came to an on Monday when a New York jury found him guilty of sex trafficking and sexual abuse charges.

However, Kelly’s crimes were not hidden. The strangest part of the story is he managed to evade the law for so long. Allegations of Kelly’s preference for underage women first emerged way back in 1994 when he married up-and-coming singer Aaliyah who was 15. That marriage was quickly annulled. Aaliyah later died in a plane crash.

But in 2002, Kelly ran into more legal problems when a video circulated of him having sex and urinating on an underage girl. Kelly also beat the charges in that case when the young woman in question refused to testify.
