Coronavirus Political Divide Shows Dangers of ‘Right-Wing World’
Covid-19 Threat is Not a Political Opinion
With his more than 16,000 lies, brazen attacks on the media and perpetual gaslighting, it’s obvious President Donald Trump is waging war on the truth. He’s not only a perpetual liar but he also wants to bend reality until his lies become the truth. For example, when he falsely stated Hurricane Dorian was going to hit Alabama, he then tried to adjust his error by altering a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration map.
The real danger is that with the power of the presidency, Trump can come pretty close to shaping reality to his worldview. However, it seems this war on objective reality seems to be winning, at least with the people on the right side of the political spectrum. I have personal experience of this myself.
Right-Wing World
I used to be friends with an older black gentleman until he turned out to be a full member of Cult 45. (He said he voted for Trump because of his leadership skills.) When I pointed out that Trump was a racist and his rhetoric had been directly tied to increased traffic on white supremacist websites, he claimed he never heard that. Then he claimed the media was making up stories.
