I’ve been calling the Republican party insane for the last five years. Ever since they elected Donald Trump, the most unqualified president in United States history, to lead the country. That’s an educated opinion. But I like to back up my opinions with facts.

For example, when I call the GOP unhinged I’m saying that based on the fact that they don’t believe in science, treat the truth as an opinion and continue to support Trump, who’s responsible for more than 600,000 dead Americans because he mishandled the coronavirus pandemic.

But now we have facts and figures to support my original point. And some Republicans also support these facts. In a recent CBS/YouGov poll, about 66 % of GOP voters said loyalty to Trump was important. Seventy-seven % said they would follow Trump’s example on how to treat the media. He regularly insulted reporters and called some of the most respectable media outlets “fake news!”

Most politics watchers understand the GOP is no longer a party; it’s a cult of personality. And people in cults don’t make decisions based on logic; they’ve usually surrendered the ability to make rational decisions.

And more than half (57%) said Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) was wrong about the 2020 election. That means they agree with Trump’s lies! On CNN’s “Reliable Sources,” Peter Wehner, a veteran of three GOP White Houses, said Republican voters are trapped in a bubble of disinformation by right-wing media that tells them what they want to hear, not the truth. In a New York Times guest column, he said Trump voters were addicted to the “Big Lie.”
