In a World Cup full of surprises, sanity seemed to be restored on Thursday when soccer powerhouse Brazil cruised to a 2–0 victory against Serbia.

Brazil is one of the most glamorous nations of the World Cup. It’s a nation that produces an assembly line of players brimming with confidence and sublime skills. Brazil is a soccer team full of Michael Jordans. However, Brazilian teams are incredibly unpredictable.

In previous world cups, when they have been tipped to win, they failed spectacularly. But this year’s Brazilian squad is packed full of top-notch talent who star in major European leagues. This includes Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus, Spurs’ Richarlison, Paris Saint Germain’s Neymar, Liverpool’s Allison and Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr. and Casemiro.

In fact, most players left out of the Brazilian team could walk into any other nation’s teams. Gabriel Jesus won four English Premier League titles with Manchester City, but was relegated to the bench.

A physical Serbian team frustrated the Brazilians for almost two-thirds of the game until two moments of brilliance from Richarlison resulted in goals.
