Media finds Trump train wreck more exciting than Dems wins

I came home from work a couple of days ago and turned on MSNBC. This was on Monday, at the beginning of former President Donald Trump’s election interference trial. It didn’t take long before I wanted to vomit. On many of the shows, the first three stories were about Trump. There was also live footage of Trump’s oversized convoy.

I rolled my eyes and said, “Who’s president?”

It looks as if the press has blundered into the same trap of 2016, where they gave Trump billions of dollars of free media because he was clickbait. According to CNBC, Trump received more than $4 billion in free media in 2016. Remember all those shots of empty podiums? The media decided that although Trump made bigoted statements, his train wreck was good for ratings. And we all know how that turned out.

But, this is the dilemma of the Trump era. How do you cover a candidate who is a tabloid star and pathological liar? It’s irresponsible to cover…
